ontoviewer_snapshot.jpgSemantic technologies are currently spreading across several application domains as a reliable and consistent mean to address challenges related to organization, manipulation, visualization and exchange of data and knowledge. Different roles are actually played by these techniques depending on the application domain, on the timing constraints, on the distributed nature of applications, and so on.

Independently from the application domain, there is an increasing need of effective interfaces for enabling access, navigation and editing of such a semantic information, possibly on-the-move. Moreover, the touch-based interaction typical of tablets and smartphones is likely to open completely new scenarios for model editing and browsing, with a much higher user experience. The master thesis of Alessandra Ronsini explored this new approach to ontology visualization and provided one of the first Android applications for ontology browsing (and editing in a near future).
